Patient Compliance—An oral dosage form is inappropriate for Autistic children who refuse to swallow tablets or capsules. Authia Cream can be easily applied and has a soothing moisturizing base. The cream is easy for parents to apply on the skin.
Fat Soluble—Thiamin disulfide is fat-soluble, unlike water-soluble thiamin compounds (i.e. Thiamin monoitrate and thiamin hydrochloride). Thiamin disulfide is absorbed systemically. This maintains high circulating levels of Vitamin B1 conjugates, which have a high affinity to neural tissue.
Methylcobalamin—Transdermal delivery of Vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin may be preferable to oral dosage forms. Secretin assays have shown differences and potential malabsorption in the GI receptor sites in cases of Autism. This may have overlapping sequela in numerous loci, including Castle's Intrinsic Factor, which is necessary for the GI absorption of Vitamin B12. Percutaneous absorption of methylcobalamin may by pass the damaged or missing B12 receptors in the GI tract and serve as an alternative route to IV administration.
Liposomal Delivery System—A unique multilamellar liposome carrier delivers both fat-soluble (thiamin disulfide) and water-soluble (methylcobalamin) compounds through the layers of the skin to the bloodstream. Additionally, carriers are used to transport thiamin disulfide and methylcobalamin across the mitochondrial membrane.
Uniform Dosage Form—Unlike cosmetic creams that contain trace amounts of vital nutrients, Authia Cream contains standardized, measured units per gram of cream, which may be titrated by body weight. Each 2 oz. tube contains 50 mg/ml of thiamin disulfide and 500 mcg/ml of methylcobalamin.
Mercury Chelator—Thiamin disulfide binds to and aids in the co-excretion of mercuric chloride and other mercury compounds. It also binds to other heavy metals and may be used by healthy adults for heavy metal detoxification.
Lipofuscin Inhibitor—When complexed with azelaic acid, thiamin disulfide has a positive effect on ceroid pigments both in the skin and in neural tissue. Diffuse ceroid pigments have been found in individuals with Alzheimer's Disease.
Soothing Emollient Base—May be administered as a high-tech moisturizer for healthy adults.
